About Avora, about taking part in a study, and about our texts and your privacy.
An information service about clinical research. We explain six areas of research in plain words, describe what taking part usually involves, and send occasional updates to people who ask for them.
No. We do not run studies, employ study doctors or operate a research site. Each study is run by its own team, who decide who can take part.
No. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and we cannot tell you whether a study is right for you. Your own doctor and the study team are the people to ask.
No. Reading the site, signing up for updates and calling us are all free.
We would rather explain six areas well than list hundreds thinly. The six are pancreatic cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, ALS, stroke recovery, scleroderma and bleeding disorders.
You contact the study team directly. They explain the study, check whether a screening visit makes sense and answer your questions. We are not part of that conversation.
No. We never pass your name, number or answers to a study team, a sponsor or anyone else. If you want to take part in something, you make the contact yourself.
Yes, and you keep them. A study adds a team; it does not replace your own doctor. Many people ask the study team to keep their doctor informed.
You can leave a study at any time, for any reason, and your usual care carries on. The study team may ask you to attend one last visit for safety, and you can say no to that too.
Some help with travel or time, and some do not. Every study is different, so ask the study team before your first visit.
Occasional updates about clinical research in the area you chose, and replies about your sign-up or message. Never advertising for other companies.
No. An email address is enough to sign up, and you can add texts later if you want them.
It varies, and never more than four messages a month.
Reply STOP to any message. You will get one confirmation and nothing after it. Reply HELP for help, or call us.
No. A text from Avora never enrolls you in anything. It tells you something exists; what you do next is up to you.
If your question is not here, call or write. A person reads every message during office hours.
Sign up once with the area you care about. We send an occasional update by email, and by text if you choose, and no more than 4 texts in any month.
